The point, sottovento. E’ una destra, veloce e potente. Turtle bay: solo visto. E’ la baia sopravvevnto a Hookipa. E’ rarissimo vedere gente che surfa li. Rompe con swell da N-NW. Piu’ di altro, non so. The world’s most famous windsurfing beach hosts big and powerful waves that regularly catch out even the most seasoned local. It is a playground for down-the- line windsurfing and definitely a box that needs to be ticked.
Hookipa is infamous worldwide as THE place for wave sailing. There is a small area of relatively quiet water some 300 feet within the shoreline. The outside, however, is where the waves break and the wind line is. The best sailors in the world sail here, many of them professionals. This is the site for several professional windsurfing events. This is probably not suitable for beginners (certainly not on the outside). Far beyond the breaks is opportunity for limited slalom, though its not exactly flat water.
